Darren Chiacchia was nearly killed in an accident last month. Darren helped the US Olympic team to win a bronze medal during the Athens Olympic Games. He was a favorite for this year’s team. He was training a horse in Tallahassee, Florida when the horse suddenly crashed over a fence and nearly crushing him to death. Over the last one and a half year, 12 equestrians were killed across the globe. This time, the accident further worsened the growing anxiety over whether ‘eventing’, an equestrian discipline have become too dangerous to be practiced. Mr. Chiacchia was in comatose for one week and is now continuously working on his recovery in a rehabilitation center just near his home.
